I cannot quite put my finger on what bothers me so much about these phrases. I guess its that the accompanying articles usually carefully avoid addressing the questions or assessing the criticism in any way.

Sometimes they are even vague about who exactly did the criticising/questioning. Or it turns out that it was just 'voices on Twitter' or some self declared expert with no credentials. The articles usually are just click bait with very little information.

I dont know if its allowed to name and shame here, but one big publication is infamous for this on r/politics.
