BREAKING NEWS: Calgary Couple Found Guilty of Aggravated Assault in Infant’s Broken Arm Case

Lethbridge, Alberta – A jury has delivered a guilty verdict against a Calgary couple accused of intentionally causing severe injuries to their infant daughter, resulting in a broken arm.

According to the Lethbridge Herald, Christopher and Kristina Fournier, both 31, were found guilty of aggravated assault and mischief by a jury at the Lethbridge Court of Queen’s Bench on Friday.

In June 2020, the Fourniers’ 10-month-old daughter, Lily, was rushed to hospital with a badly broken arm. An investigation by Alberta Children’s Services and the Lethbridge Police Service revealed that Lily’s injuries were not the result of an accident, but rather a intentional act of violence.

The couple faced two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of mischief. The charges stem from an incident on June 11, 2020, when Lily was rushed to hospital with a broken left humerus and a broken right tibia.

The Crown prosecutor alleged that the Fourniers were motivated by a desire to punish their child for not sleeping or to exert control over her.

During the trial, the court heard testimony from medical professionals and police investigators who described the severity of Lily’s injuries and the deliberate nature of the assault.

The Fourniers’ defense team argued that the couple had acted out of frustration and stress, rather than malice.

The guilty verdict marks a significant victory for the prosecution, as it is a rare case of this severity and intensity.

Sickening that some people are so unable to change their ideology at the expense of their own children. The Lethbridge couple are being protected from naming the prior high profile case against them.

On a completely unrelated note, remember the Alberta couple who were finally found not guilty of failing to provide life saving medical care to their son who died of meningitis? They were touring their documentary "the people vs David and collet Stephan" regarding medical freedom early this summer.
