Mo’s Mysterious Philosophy Sends Shockwaves Through Academic Community

In a stunning turn of events, a previously unknown philosopher, Mo, has been making waves in the academic world with his unexplained and unconventional philosophical theories. The enigmatic thinker has been sharing his ideas with a small circle of followers, leaving many in the intellectual community scratching their heads and demanding answers.

According to sources close to the matter, Mo’s philosophy is centered around the concept of "non-sequiturs" – the idea that seemingly unrelated events and concepts can be connected to form a cohesive whole. While some have hailed Mo’s ideas as revolutionary, others have dismissed them as nonsensical.

Mo’s followers, known as the "Mo-istas," claim that his philosophy is a game-changer, offering new insights into the nature of reality and the human experience. However, critics argue that Mo’s theories are little more than a collection of vague platitudes and unsubstantiated claims.

As the debate surrounding Mo’s philosophy continues to rage on, many are left wondering what lies at the heart of this enigmatic thinker’s ideas. Is Mo a genius or a charlatan? Only time will tell.

You should wait until your morning poop to read this one. It's going to be a long anti-Mo rant…

Mike Schildt is currently runner up betting odds for NL manager of the year. Mozeliak (Dewitt?) fired him based on "philosophical differences" 3 years ago. Since then, we are subpar (a kind way of saying "bad").

Schildt is, unsurprisingly, thriving as the manager of the Padres. He is having an incredible and deserved season. How did Schildt learn to win? I'll tell you.

Shildt gives all credit for his knowledge and acumen to what he learned from La Russa and Whitey Herzog. He modeled his coaching philosophy after the two greatest managers in Cardinal history. The Cardinal way in its truest form.

Schildt's rise to coaching in The Bigs dates back to 2004. Mo (of all philosophers) recommended him for the job in 04-05 as a part time minor league coach for Single-A cardinal club. Prior to that he was a scout for the farm club. Worked his way up the Cardinal system, learning everything about the culture along the way. Bright future, Cardinal through and through.

Fast forward. In 2019, following years of promotion after promotion, Schildt is in his 2nd year as Cardinal manager and what does he achieve? The Skipper leads the birds to clinch the playoff berth for the first time in 4 years and earns himself the NL Manager of the Year! Tough loss in the playoffs but ready for a strong future as the Skipper. His next 2 years:

2020 (COVID – shortened season): Playoffs

2021: Playoffs (sparked by a franchise record setting 17 game win streak)

Seems like success in the making. Cardinal playoff traditions are kept alive. Schildt is our guy.

Offeasons thoughts from fans: we are ready for more magic and hopes for a deeper playoff run!

Wait a second, we say, did you hear the news today? Mo (who 17 years earlier gave him the minor league job) gives Schildt the boot in the ass. "Why?"

Mo was asked that question. His answer: a vague (unspecified) "philosophical difference" of which nobody knows the meaning.

What did Mo have in mind that was so different from Schildt? Something better than something advancing beyond just back-to-back playoff appearances? He must have somebody better than Schildt, but how? And who? Girardi? Hmmm…

Oli Marmol. Who the ffffudge? The bench coach? Isn't he like the same age as Yadi?

Fast forward. It's late August in 2024 and I'm writing this after my bedtime because I can't take it anymore. Losing record last season (a year ago) under Marmol. In the brink of another losing season which would be the first time with back-to-back losing seasons since the 1950's!!! What happppppeeeennned? Our roster is not good! We have no sluggers, nobody hitting .280 or higher, and a very average (2nd highest paid) starting pitching rotation. How did we get here??

Maybe Oli sucks? He's dull, uninspiring, etc. He has nothing truly impactful to say. I don't hate him, I don't think. Nothing strong about his presence or his feedback, but I don't think it's really his fault. He doesn't seem built for the job, but I can't blame him for that.

My only constant frustration is Oli appears to just say what Mo wants him to say. He's Mo's guy, no doubt. Mo wants complacency and fault avoidance. Oli does the job well as far as Mo is concerned. Perhaps that's what Mo liked about him. But Schildt HAD our Cardinal culture inside of him!! He didn't go to sleep thinking it was okay to be [barely] in the wild card race.

Perhaps that's what he disliked about Schildt. Maybe his love for the culture led to conflict with Mo. Maybe they had a meeting after the 2021 season and Schildt had something constructive in mind that Mo didn't like. Maybe Schildt cared too much. I always had the gut feeling that's exactly what happened.

Was I right? Not sure. What I do know is Mo was wrong about Schildt, and Cardinal fans are right about Mo.

Mo isn't a Cardinal, and I say that because he doesn't dare to win. He doesn't appear to try very hard either. He seemingly wants to maintain a pattern of hope for "next year" because it keeps the fan base tuned in. He has not explained his (unspecified) "philosophy" and, whatever it is, he hasn't changed it either, because to him it's fine. He had the next great Cardinal manager, and he let him go because Mo has a losing "philosophy" that he won't let be checked by someone below him.

And that's what makes Mo unworthy of this organization.

Mo, with all due respect, in 2025, please don't sign the contract if Dewitt offers it. And on your way out, take Dewitt too.

  1. What you may be missing is that Mo is executing DeWitt’s plan. Now it’s fair to say that the “win 89 games and hope for playoff magic” model at best stale, and at worst delusional, but replacing Mo with another apparatchik may not be the answer.

  2. My biggest concern going forward is not just that we’ve got Mo for another year but he’s handing off “his system” to “his guys” to take takeover when in reality we need to clean system and new guys.

  3. 1.) Mo is doing what Dewitt wants. Nothing changes when he is gone.

2.) We’ll never know why Shildt was really fired. “Philosophy differences” is just a way to fire someone and save face for both parties.
