A powerful storm brought heavy rainfall to the Pacific island state on November 28, resulting in torrential floods and landslides that have left hundreds of homes inundated.
According to authorities, a record-breaking 1028.07 millimeters of rain fell on the state capital, Honolulu, making it the highest 24-hour rainfall total ever recorded in the area.

Eyewitness reports describe scenes of utter destruction, with debris-filled rivers and streets turning into mudslides. Power lines and communication networks are down in many areas.

Emergency teams are currently conducting search and rescue operations to locate anyone trapped by the floods.
