LDS Church Spends $300 Million to Acquire 26,000 Hectares of Farmland in Queensland, Australia
In a shocking move, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) has spent a staggering $300 million to acquire approximately 26,000 hectares of cropping farmland in southern Queensland, Australia. This massive land deal is expected to have significant implications for the region’s agricultural industry and the church’s global operations.
According to sources, the LDS Church has purchased the farmland from a private company, with the majority of the land located in the towns of Dalby, Chinchilla, and Miles. The acquisition is part of the church’s long-term strategy to diversify its investments and generate revenue from sustainable agricultural practices.
The farmland, which is expected to produce a range of crops including cotton, corn, and sugarcane, is situated in one of Australia’s most fertile regions. The area is known for its rich soil and favorable climate, making it an ideal location for large-scale farming operations.
The LDS Church’s decision to invest in Australian farmland is seen as a significant vote of confidence in the country’s agricultural sector. The church’s move is also expected to create jobs and stimulate local economic growth in the region.
"This is a major investment in the Australian agricultural industry, and we are thrilled to be a part of it," said a spokesperson for the LDS Church. "We are committed to sustainable farming practices and are excited to work with local farmers and communities to develop this land."
The acquisition is the latest in a series of significant investments made by the LDS Church in recent years. In 2020, the church acquired a majority stake in a large agricultural company in the United States, and has also invested in renewable energy projects and real estate developments around the world.

Are they acquiring a bunch of farm land so they’re prepared for the millennium or something? it’s probably just investments, but I’ve always wondered
Haha! Wtf for? Australia already slammed them for violating the law and trying to claim religious contributions as non-taxable which doesn’t exist in that country. The fucking gall and absolute zero Mormon boundaries is absolutely real and exists.
I think the goal of the church is to own all farmland, and thus control food production.
They own a bunch of farmland in central Montana, USA, over the Madison Aquifer (a hugely important source of water for this area.)
I wonder if they would like to sell me a few hectares since my tithing could have been a considerable down payment. Life could have been very different for me and my family.
How can I trick the church into quit claiming me some property
The ~~proletariat~~ **Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints** must seize the means of production!
