Today marks a significant milestone for yours truly as I celebrate one year of dedicated service to the federal government! This remarkable journey has been nothing short of transformative, filled with growth, learning, and countless opportunities to make a positive impact.

Over the past 12 months, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside exceptional individuals, collaborating on initiatives that have improved the lives of countless Americans, and developing skills that have further honed my expertise.

As I reflect on my first year in federal service, I’m reminded of the countless memories, from the early morning briefings to the late-night research sessions, from the successes to the setbacks, and from the laughter to the tears. It’s been an incredible ride, filled with moments that have molded me into the professional I am today.

So, what’s next? In the coming year, I’m excited to continue expanding my knowledge, taking on new challenges, and embracing the ever-changing landscape of federal service. Whether it’s tackling complex policy issues, developing innovative solutions, or simply being a vital part of a dedicated team, I’m ready for whatever comes next!

In celebration of this milestone, I’d like to share some key takeaways and lessons learned from my first year in federal service:

  1. Perseverance is key: Federal service can be a challenging and demanding environment. Staying focused, persistent, and committed to one’s goals is essential to success.
  2. Collaboration is paramount: Working together with colleagues, stakeholders, and leaders is crucial to achieving collective goals and driving meaningful results.
  3. Stay adaptable: The federal sector is constantly evolving, requiring individuals to be flexible and open to new ideas, technologies, and methodologies.

As I embark on the next chapter of my journey, I’m honored to be part of a noble profession that serves the nation and its people. To my fellow federal employees, I raise a virtual toast to our shared dedication and commitment to public service!

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to share my milestone with this community: yesterday marked my one-year anniversary as a 2210 working in audio/video engineering in federal service! After spending 23 years as a contractor (well over 30 in AV), making the leap to federal work has been a significant change for me, both professionally and personally. Luckily I was a direct hire and didn't have the trials and tribulations many have getting into GS positions. Simply put, I was a contractor with this agency for almost 3 years prior and once the contract dried up, I was asked to join the agency.

This past year has been a whirlwind of learning and growth. I’ve had the chance to work on some incredible projects and collaborate with a team that truly values innovation and efficiency. The sense of camaraderie here is unlike anything I’ve experienced before, and I’m grateful for the support I’ve received as I transitioned from the contractor world.

To top it all off, I just received the exciting news that I’ll be stepping into the role of superintendent of installation for a massive C4IT project! I’m thrilled about the new responsibilities and challenges ahead, and I can’t wait to help our team in enhancing communication and information technology capabilities for our customer(s).

I’m looking forward to what the next chapter holds and would love to hear any advice or insights from those who have navigated similar paths in federal service. Thanks for reading, and here’s to new beginnings!
