A sweltering heat wave continues to bake much of the eastern half of the United States, conditions persisting for the fourth day in a row. The high heat and humidity are expected to continue in parts of the Midwest, Northeast and the Mid-Atlantic into the weekend. At least in New England, conditions should improve Friday.
