Full-time local residents of Ruidoso will be allowed to return to their homes on Monday, as the Federal Bureau of Investigation announced that it will assist local, state, federal and tribal partners in the investigation of the South Fork and Salt Fires. The FBI is offering up to $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible for starting the fires.Second homeowners and tourists are still asked to stay from areas affected by the fires until further notice.Full-time residents of the following areas had their evacuation status lifted at 5 p.m. Saturday and can return home. These residents must access their subdivisions through U.S. Highway 380:- Ranches of Sonterra 1, 2 and 3- Rancho Ruidoso Valley Estates- Enchanted ForestAs of 8 a.m. Sunday, the following areas will have their evacuation status lifted and residents will be allowed to return:- Ruidoso Downs- Ruidoso Downs to El Valle Loop- Sierra Vista- Sun Valley- Villa MadonnaRestrictions are still in place for any subdivisions in the original exclusion areas, along with any other areas that were affected by the fire. In a statement posted on the village’s social media page, re-entry will be limited to local full-time residents only. Those residents should plan to bring at least a week’s worth of food and drinking water because grocery stores are not operating at full capacity.A boil water advisory will also be in place, but village officials say there is a chance that a mandatory boil water order could be issued.
