Chris Paul will reportedly enter unrestricted free agency after being waived by the Warriors.

The Golden State Warriors are waiving Chris Paul, the team announced Sunday evening. The 39-year-old point guard was entering the final year of his contract, which was not guaranteed.

Golden State saves a large amount of luxury tax money with the waiving of Paul, who played off the bench for the first time in his career last season. The 19-year veteran averaged 9.2 points and 6.8 assists while shooting 44.1% for the Warriors, who finished 46-36 and did not qualify for the playoffs.

Paul, a 12-time All-Star who ranks third in career assists and steals, now becomes an unrestricted free agent and is able to sign with any team.
