Ludvig Åberg heads into the final round of the 2024 Scottish Open with a two-stroke lead at 17 under. Falling as many as two strokes off the pace on Moving Day, the young Swede finished in a flurry with three birdies in his last six holes to turn that two-stroke deficit into a two-stroke advantage.
His advantage lies over his Ryder Cup teammate and Scotland’s very own Robert MacIntyre. Firmly in the mix in his national open for the second straight year, the left hander will hope to make amends for last year’s tournament when a racing Rory McIlroy birdied his final two holes to usurp the Scotsman by one.
McIlroy remains in the thick of things himself at 12 under but will need a round to remember to chase down Åberg. Collin Morikawa and Sahith Theegala are one better than McIlroy at 13 under and both seek their first victories of 2024. Adam Scott, Sungjae Im and Antoine Rozner will enter the final round in the conversation as well, aiming to enter the winner’s circle by final putt on Sunday.
