Due to the continued extreme temperatures, NJ TRANSIT is currently experiencing heat-related rail equipment issues affecting the air conditioning units and other electronic components. IMPORTANT NOTE: As a matter of protocol, NJ TRANSIT does not send out a train in passenger service if an air conditioning issue is known, even if the train is otherwise operational.

While our rail maintenance crews work around the clock to make the necessary repairs and restore affected equipment to revenue service as quickly as possible, select trains will not operate. To minimize the impact on customers to the greatest extent possible, trains were strategically selected across multiple rail lines at different times of the service day to ensure no one rail line was disproportionately affected.

On Thursday, July 18 and Friday, July 19, the following trains will not operate or will be combined with other trains, and some will make additional stops. We have included suggested alternate trains for your reference.

We appreciate your patience during this temporary adjustment and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Customers can continue to receive the latest updates via text messages and emails via My Transit Alerts, through the TRANSIT Mobile App (including customized push notifications), by visiting Travel Alerts & Advisories for the latest service-related information, or by following us on your line-specific accounts on “X” (formerly Twitter).

For more information and language assistance, please call NJ TRANSIT Customer Service at (973) 275-5555 between the hours of 8:30AM and 5PM daily.
