Jake Paul and Mike Perry are officially set to face off.
Despite an early scare at the scale, Paul hit the mark at 200 pounds for his cruiserweight bout with Perry that headlines Saturday’s Most Valuable Promotions boxing event at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla.
Paul actually first stepped to the scale shortly before the start of Friday’s weigh-ins. He failed to come in at the limit even after stripping down and being covered by a towel, initially weighing in at 200.4 pounds. Less than half an hour later, he again weighed in under a towel, and was officially registered at 200 pounds.
Prior to Paul’s second attempt, Perry successfully weighed in at 196.6 pounds. The BKFC star competes in boxing for just the second time and the first since March 2015.
Paul (9-1, 6 KOs) is coming off of three consecutive victories, including a decision nod over former UFC star Nate Diaz.
Saturday’s co-main event is also official as undisputed featherweight champion Amanda Serrano successfully made 136 pounds for her super lightweight bout against Stevie Morgan (136.6).
Also of note, former UFC middleweight contender Uriah Hall and former WBC titleholder Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. made weight for their bout at 199.6 and 197.8 pounds, respectively.
