Slash is honoring the life of his late stepdaughter.
The legendary guitarist, 58, took to Instagram on Sunday, July 21, to reveal that his stepdaughter, Lucy-Bleu Knight, died “peacefully” at 25 years old in Los Angeles on July 19, calling her an “incredibly talented artist, a passionate dreamer and a charming, lovable, sweet soul.”
Slash did not reveal specifics surrounding her cause of death. Representatives for the artist had no further comment when reached by PEOPLE. His Instagram post asks, on behalf of his family, “for privacy at this time and requests that social media speculation be kept to a minimum as they grieve and process this devastating loss.”
On July 21, two days after her death, a seemingly scheduled post was shared to Knight’s Instagram page, including a selfie and a caption featuring reflections on her relationships with various people in her life.
According to Slash’s Instagram post, Knight, born on Dec. 6, 1998, was the “beloved daughter of Meegan Hodges and Mark Knight, stepdaughter of Samantha Somers Knight and Slash, sister of Scarlet Knight, stepsister of London and Cash Hudson.”

Slash’s birth name is Saul Hudson. The artist first started dating Bleu-Knight’s mother, Meegan Hodges, in 1989, but the pair’s relationship then fizzled fizzled out until they rekindled more than two decades later in 2015.
In the interim, Slash married model-actress Renée Suran, whom he was with from 1992 to 1997, and subsequently married Perla Ferrar in 2001, with whom he shares sons London and Cash. Slash and Ferrar ended their marriage in 2014, and the Guns N’ Roses icon started dating Hodges again the following year.
On the morning of July 21, ahead of revealing the news of his stepdaughter’s death, Slash shared with fans on X (formerly Twitter) that “Due to unforeseen circumstances, the S.E.R.P.E.N.T tour regrettably has to cancel” four performances between July 22 until July 27th.
Slash’s S.E.R.P.E.N.T tour is currently making stops around the U.S., with the artist telling PEOPLE earlier this month that he “put all [his] effort into every detail that [he] possibly can” to bring the tour to life.
“I’m looking forward to it just being a lot of fun. I’m looking forward to really being able to open up and play my ass off for two hours every day for a couple months, and then also jamming with some of the people that we’re going to be touring with,” he added at the time.
