ie. break even point for the council is 1.5 years; for the whole government it is 3 years. Why are we not doing this up and down the country?
This should’ve been done decades ago, the culture that arises from a smelting pot of atleast 6 children with very different needs resulting from trauma and challenges they face is basically spinning a roulette wheel with regards to the outcomes of children in care.
I’ve actually helped work on proposals for an approach like this in another part of the UK which fell apart unfortunately but this is absolutely fantastic to see even if it’s because of a cost saving exercise.
As a care leaver that spent my formative years in a home with a revolving door of 7 other young people that flipped the homes culture on its head with every other move this will do wonders for prospects for our young folk in care.
