"Checkmate" Chaos Erupts in Chess World as White Team Accidentally Hangs Queen – Is This the Most Costly Mistake in Chess History?
Date: March 12, 2023
In a shocking turn of events, the White team in a high-stakes chess match has made a disastrous blunder, hanging their queen for no apparent reason. The audience was left stunned as the usually composed players were left in disbelief.
The incident occurred during the quarterfinals of the prestigious Golden Pawn tournament, where the top-ranked teams from around the world were vying for the coveted title. As the White team’s player, Max Thompson, pondered his next move, his teammate, Emma Lee, walked up to the board and, without hesitation, lifted the queen off the square and… hung it on a nearby hook.
The crowd gasped in horror as the reality of the situation sunk in. How could this happen? Was this a deliberate attempt to sabotage their chances of winning, or was it just an honest mistake?
The Black team’s captain, Alexander Petrov, shook his head in disbelief, saying, "I’ve never seen anything like this. We’re all professionals, but sometimes even the best of us can make mistakes. I hope they can recover from this."
The implications of this blunder are huge, and many are wondering if the game will continue or if the White team will forfeit. The tournament organizers have issued a statement, saying that the decision will be made after a thorough review of the situation.
Why is this only an inaccuracy?
In this extraordinary situation, the White team’s hanging of their queen is not only a massive blunder but also a crucial moment that could change the course of the tournament. As the game is still in its early stages, the consequences of this error could be far-reaching, potentially affecting the entire outcome of the match.

Quick Tip 1: To know why the engine is recommending a move / saying a move is wrong, click over analysis mode, play out said move then follow it up with your theoretical responses to that move and see how the engine responds.
Quick Tip 2: On Chess.com, you don’t have to rely on the Coach / Game Review / Hint. This also applies to any engine on low depth. Somewhere in the engine suggestions section is the computer “depth”. The higher this value, the more accurate the suggestions will be.
Quick Tip 3: For questions on engine move suggestions, we suggest you post them to our dedicated thread: [No Stupid Questions MEGATHREAD](https://www.reddit.com/r/chessbeginners/comments/yqqnz8/no_stupid_questions_megathread_6/), as stated in our Community Guidelines. Thank you! – The Mod Team

Just ignore chess.com’s annotations.
They are arbitrary, meaningless and afaik even depend on the rating. What you should care about is the change in evaluation. And then make your own conclusions based on that. Learn to find out why the evaluation jumped. Play around. Don’t click through game review, it’s gonna hurt your development as a player.
This is obviously a blunder.
Because you were probably already winning and queen hang didn’t effect the advantage significantly. Blunder means you gave up a lot of advantage to your opponent or you lost the advantage you had.
