Hey guys,

I’m trying to figure out how to interpret news properly.

Scenario 1:
According to a news earlier today, GBP Claimant Count Change. It said that if actual is less than forecast it’s better for the currency. However, the actual is 135k while forecasted is 14.5k, and previous is 36.2k.

Doesn’t this mean more people have claimed unemployment which is bad for the currency? Yet the currency went up.

Can someone help explain?

Scenario 2:

Last week Friday 9th August.

We had news on CAD employment change and unemployment rate. That news confused me and I wasn’t sure what would happen to the currency. I would highly appreciate if someone could elaborate.
