Somehow, the post got deleted, probably because my internet sucks, so I'm re-uploading it.
I messaged the girl and tried to talk to her, asking her why she felt like this, and if we could go about mending this relationship.
I expected an apology, didn’t get one.
Instead, I got a long, long, text message.
So, I messaged her mother.
It took a lot of convincing and a lot of ‘Aunty, why would I lie about this’ to get her to believe that her ‘little princess would do something like this’- her words, not mine.
I showed her the post she had made- or rather the word doc, and she said I could have typed that out to frame her daughter. That stung a little if I’m being honest, she thought I was lying, but doesn’t matter. I showed her the comments on the post, and it synced up with when the girl had my laptop.
I also told her mother about the…less than appropriate…conversations she’d been having with boys online. Boys who were much, much older than her. Like I’m talking, 24 year olds. I'd wanted to tell her mom about it for a while now because…a 16 year old girl is talking to 24-year-olds online and having like, really explicit conversations with them.
That made her mother go absolutely crazy. We’re both from very traditional families, and added to the fact that she had archived the chats and put the password on them- which I knew and have now told her mother because why not? you say stuff like that to me and I don’t care about ‘girl code’- and she’s definitely getting yelled at.
Long story short, she’s grounded, her phone’s been taken away, and her mother loves me now.
On the other hand…my friend group’s alienated me, but I guess its good to have toxic people out of my life?
I know she has a lot of insecurities, but I've been trying to help her with it and she had said she was feeling better about herself.
