Flight Delayed and Cancelled: IAH to MCI Passengers Left Stranded
Houston, TX – In a shocking turn of events, a United Airlines flight from Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) to Kansas City’s International Airport (MCI) was delayed and subsequently cancelled, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded.
The flight, UA 1456, was scheduled to depart IAH at 7:30 PM CST, but due to unforeseen circumstances, it was delayed and eventually cancelled. Passengers were left waiting at the gate for hours, with no updates on the status of their flight.
"I was really looking forward to getting home tonight, but now I’m stuck here," said frustrated passenger, Sarah Johnson. "The airline didn’t even bother to communicate with us about the delay or cancellation. It’s unacceptable."
The reasons behind the delay and cancellation are still unclear, but sources close to the matter suggest that mechanical issues with the aircraft may have been the cause.
As passengers await further information and assistance, many are taking to social media to express their frustration and disappointment.
"United Airlines, you’ve got some serious explaining to do," tweeted @Traveler1234. "My flight from IAH to MCI was delayed and cancelled without warning. What’s going on?"

Was on the UA2648 flight tonight from Houston to KC that was delayed multiple times and had a few planes swap. Then we finally board, push back from the gate and it was noticeably hot. FA came on the intercom saying we’ll go back to the gate to let maintenance come on and figure out the AC. It was on intermittently but they couldn’t control it. They allowed pax to deplane inside and cool off then finally announced they’re getting a new plane. We went to the next gate then about 15 minutes in we got the news it was cancelled around 12:15am.
First time flying United in a very long time. Had a great experience going but coming back wasn’t pleasant.
The AC was on and off. It’s about a 90-minute flight to KC. I personally wouldn’t have minded taking the flight but I knew in the back it was quite warmer.
All in all props to the FA crew, staff and agents doing their darndest to keep us notified and helping with vouchers and rebooking us on next flights out. Hope everyone makes out ok.
