As the Democratic National Convention approaches, Chicago is gearing up to welcome thousands of visitors to the city. To ensure a smooth and efficient transportation experience, the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) is taking steps to prepare for the influx of visitors.
CTA Prepares for Increased Ridership
Starting August 17, the CTA will implement special event service to accommodate the expected surge in ridership. This will include:
- Extended hours on select bus and rail lines
- Additional trains and buses to reduce congestion
- Enhanced customer service at major transfer points
- Increased staffing at stations and on trains

Special Event Service Details
To accommodate the increased ridership, the CTA will operate special event service on the following lines:
- Red Line: Trains will run every 10 minutes from 6:00 AM to 1:00 AM
- Blue Line: Trains will run every 10 minutes from 6:00 AM to 1:00 AM
- Green Line: Trains will run every 10 minutes from 6:00 AM to 1:00 AM
- Orange Line: Trains will run every 10 minutes from 6:00 AM to 1:00 AM
- Brown Line: Trains will run every 10 minutes from 6:00 AM to 1:00 AM
- Purple Line: Trains will run every 10 minutes from 6:00 AM to 1:00 AM
