In a shocking turn of events, I’ve recently made the bold decision to stop counting calories. Yes, you read that right – I’ve bid farewell to the restrictive and often stressful world of calorie counting, and I’m here to tell you that it’s been a life-changing experience.

For years, I’ve been stuck in the cycle of counting every last calorie, meticulously tracking my intake, and beating myself up over minor slips. But the truth is, this approach was taking a toll on my mental and physical health. I was constantly anxious about what I was eating, and I often felt like I was missing out on life because I was too busy worrying about the numbers.

So, I decided to take a leap of faith and try something new. I started practicing intuitive eating, allowing myself to listen to my body’s hunger and fullness cues, and focusing on nourishing my body with whole, unprocessed foods. It’s been a game-changer.

Not only have I noticed a significant reduction in stress and anxiety, but I’ve also experienced a boost in energy and overall well-being. I’m no longer obsessed with food, and I’m finally able to enjoy meals without feeling guilty or anxious.

But don’t just take my word for it – the science is on my side. Research has shown that restrictive eating habits, like calorie counting, can lead to disordered eating behaviors, decreased self-esteem, and even depression. By ditching the calorie counting and focusing on intuitive eating, I’m taking control of my health and happiness in a way that feels empowering and sustainable.

So, if you’re struggling with the same issues I was, I urge you to consider giving up calorie counting and trying intuitive eating for yourself. It’s not about giving up control or indulging in unhealthy habits – it’s about listening to your body and nourishing it with love and respect.

So for maybe 15 years I've counted calories on and off using my fitness pal. Usually the off times where when I knew I was overeating but wanted to be in denial.

This time is different. I feel like I have a good relationship with food, I don't overeat anymore. And despite no longer tracking my food, I haven't really changed my diet. Part of it was changing smart watches, and my new one having less functions in regards to calorie intake.

Another part was that I started lifting weights, and had to eat more for the muscle to grow, and mentally it was a huge challenge for me to accept eating more calories.

Since stopping counting I've actually had a drop. I don't weigh myself anymore, but I can see it in my clothes. It's just nice to finally be in a more relaxed place with food, without going overboard.

Obviously I've been on this road before, and I know I can always go back to tracking my food if I start to gain fat. But I wanted to share the happy news of where I am
