Breaking News: Biscuits Trigger Mass Hospitalization in Maharashtra
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, India – In a shocking turn of events, at least 80 students from a district council school in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district were rushed to hospitals on Tuesday afternoon after consuming biscuits distributed as part of a nutritional meal programme.
According to eyewitnesses, the students, who are between 12 and 14 years old, complained of severe stomach cramps, vomiting, and diarrhea after eating the biscuits provided to them during their lunch break. The school is located in the rural area of Shengani, approximately 60 km south of Aurangabad city.
Eyewitnesses claim that the students initially started feeling unwell in the school’s playground and later deteriorated, prompting the school administration to quickly call in emergency services.
"A sudden outbreak of symptoms started to spread among the students, and soon almost the entire class was affected. It was a chaotic scene, and we quickly took them to the nearby hospital," said a teacher, who wished to remain anonymous.

The local administration has launched an investigation to identify the possible cause of the mass poisoning. Inspectors from the district administration, food safety officials, and school officials are currently conducting tests to determine whether the biscuits were contaminated with any harmful substances.
"The local authorities are taking immediate action to ensure the safety of the students. We have collected samples of the biscuits and are examining them to determine the cause of the illness. As of now, we can confirm that no one has lost their life, and all students have been admitted to the hospital for further treatment," said a senior official from the District Administration.
Students Admitted to Hospitals
A team of doctors and paramedics are providing treatment to the students, most of whom are currently undergoing medication for their symptoms. The condition of all the students is stable, and doctors expect most of them to recover within a short period.
"We are keeping a close eye on the students and will not release them until they are completely okay. We will also conduct regular medical check-ups to ensure that there is no long-term damage," said a doctor from the hospital.
Crisis Management Measures
The local administration has promised to provide financial assistance to the affected students’ families and ensure that the school takes strict measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
This incident highlights the need for a stringent food safety regulatory framework to ensure that our children receive safe and healthy food options.
