My friend fed a huge meatball to my small yorkie dog without asking and my dog ended up at the vet vomiting. I haven't heard any good news from the vet but my friend won't pay for the bill for when I get it. I've made a post about this and people suggesting I should press charges are getting downvted so I'm assuming I shouldn't do that
Is there no way I can make my friend pay at least half of the bill or is he not obligated to pay anything for it? I live in Fresno California by the way

“Pressing charges” would mean that you called the police and tried to get him arrested. That wouldn’t get the vet bill paid (and I doubt the police would take it seriously anyway).
If there’s a bill that you think he owes and he won’t pay, you would need to sue him. Unless this was an unusually large vet bill, you can probably sue him in small claims court. You would need to convince a judge that he was responsible for injuring your dog.
