Breaking News: Remember Jordan Montgomery? "Wants to Win" Despite Disappointing Start to Season
In a shocking turn of events, New York Yankees pitcher Jordan Montgomery has spoken out about his tumultuous start to the 2023 MLB season. Despite an ERA of 6.44 and an ERA+ of 64, Montgomery remains determined to turn his fortunes around and lead his team to victory.
"I want to win," Montgomery emphasized in a recent interview. "I don’t care about my stats, I don’t care about my ERA, I just want to win games. And I know I can do that if I can just get back to being me."
Montgomery’s comments come after a string of disappointing performances, including a recent outing where he allowed 7 earned runs in just 4.1 innings pitched. Despite his struggles, Montgomery remains optimistic about his ability to regain his form and help the Yankees reach the postseason.
"I’ve had some tough outings, but I’m not getting discouraged," Montgomery said. "I know I’m better than this. I just need to go out there and trust my stuff. I’ve worked too hard to get to this point, and I’m not going to let a few bad outings define my season."
Montgomery’s determination is music to the ears of Yankees fans, who have been patiently waiting for him to return to his 2020 form. That season, Montgomery recorded a 3.87 ERA and started 30 games for the Yankees, cementing his status as a key component of the team’s rotation.
As the trade deadline approaches, Montgomery’s comments have sparked speculation about his potential long-term future with the Yankees. Could he be on the move come July? Only time will tell, but for now, Montgomery remains focused on helping his team win games, regardless of his individual performance.

Well he’s currently playing for a team in line for WC1, with 5.5 games to spare that Fangraphs gives a 92% chance to make the playoffs. We’re currently 3.5 out and given a 40% chance to make the playoffs.
As thing stand I don’t think you can fault his reasoning, even if he hasn’t done well personally.
Guys having a shitty year, due in part to the fact that he signed late. I don’t see any reason to crap on him. Also not that he’s a big part of their success but he is absolutely on a more winning team than the Sox in the DBacks. They could still take the division from the Dodgers. Sox have a chance to win the wild card why are you holding a grudge against Jordan Montgomery
It’s weird because Blake Snell clearly would’ve been fine from the jump if he’d gotten a regular Spring Training and you’d think Montgomery would be on the same track but Monty just hasn’t figured it out.
There’s definitely a bit of schadenfreude watching him struggle though, after he so thoroughly dissed and dismissed the rumors that he wanted to come here.
This ain’t it
Well he joined the team more likely to win…weird dunk…
The Diamondbacks are 16 games over .500 though. They’ve definitely done more winning than the Sox this year so I’d say he got his wish.
Pitchers need full Spring Training.
