Whenever I see TikToks of Europeans and their horses they seem to primarily be a pet, and only used as a working animal in small rural communities. Since y’all ranch cattle I’d always assumed you had the cowboy concept too. Then I saw a TikTok of a helicopter taking a cow down the side of a mountain because it was stubborn, and another of a news story where a loose one got run over by the police to stop it.
Those are obviously extreme examples, but because they’re so extreme it made me wonder why a person on a horse wasn’t your first choice.

We are a bulfighting country, but not much of a cowherding country.
Our vaqueiros don’t match the cowboy image in any way being more similar to standard sheperds.
Our iconic horsemen are the medieval knights and jinetes followed by their bullfighting successors.
What exactly do cowboys do really ? I was always under the impression they transport cattle over great distances that’s what they seem to be doing in movies but you seem to describe them more as this permanent thing you need to keep cows.
I think we just have milder climates with more crazable land and more domestic cows on more contained plots of land or something cause farming cows does not seem particularly adventurous here , nor has it ever really had that reputation. And we have a lotttttt of cows.
