Breaking News: Homebrewer’s Attempt to Conjure Renegade Legion Reaches Earthly Realms!

In a bold move, a determined homebrewer has taken the reins and attempted to create a Renegade Legion for the very first time at home. This fearless brewmaster has risked everything to bring this legendary beverage to life, and we’re excited to share the results!

The Story So Far…

Our plucky homebrewer, known only by their Reddit handle "MysteryMash," started this adventure just a few weeks ago. With an arsenal of grain, hops, yeast, and passion, they set out to conquer the world… of beer!

The Brew Details

After weeks of research, planning, and experimentation, MysteryMash finally unveiled their masterpiece. This Renegade Legion brew is a bold blend of:

  • 7.5 lbs Pilsner malt
  • 1.5 lbs Munich malt
  • 1 lb Crystal malt
  • 60-minute boil with a mixture of Mosaic, Amarillo, and Cascade hops
  • London Ale yeast, fermented at 68°F for 14 days
  • Secondary fermentation in a glass carboy for 2 weeks
  • Packaging: Kegged with CO2 for serving

Initial Impressions

As we cracked open the keg, the aroma hit us like a thunderbolt: a balanced mix of citrusy and earthy notes. The heady scent teased our senses, preparing us for a journey of taste and flavor.

Tasting Notes

  • Appearance: Cloudy gold with a fluffy, sticky head that refused to dissipate
  • Flavor: Rich, biscuity malt backed by a tantalizing wave of tropical fruit, citrus, and piney hop goodness
  • Mouthfeel: Creamy, velvety texture with a pleasant bitterness to round out the finish

The Verdict

After a series of enthusiastic sips, we’re excited to declare this brew a solid B+! While not without its quirks, the Renegade Legion shows impressive potential, with each sip inviting the drinker to explore new dimensions of flavor. With a bit more refinement and finesse, we can’t help but imagine a brew that would shatter glass (or, at the very least, rival the great commercial brews of our time).

  3. Geneseed (Rumoured):

    • Corrupted geneseed with a potential lineage to the Night Lords, tainted by Khorne
  4. Chapter Master:

    • Name: Viktor Sevatarion

Viktor Sevatarion served alongside the night lords legion for a long time, taking the name of Sevatarion to honour the late first captain or the night lords, Jago Sevatarion. Despite being born on Nostramo, he had always despised the cruelty of the night lords, even though he himself revelled in it. Eventually Viktor snapped, killing one of his brothers whilst he was torturing a mother and child, but in his blind rage he had killed the child's mother and was appalled. He gathered his men, who only numbered around 400, and began to flee into deep space. Following the guidance of their new chapter master, the once brutal night lords had become the bleeding veil. With this change came a change in doctrine, which demanded reduced brutality as it brought shame to themselves as a legion. This sparked a coup of around 50 legionnaires, the attempt failed and lead to the deaths of more astartes, these were losses they could not afford. The now unified force of around 250 marines travelled through the vast abyss for 40 years before entering the badab sector, where they heard the news of the ongoing conflict. Rushing to the aid of the imperial worlds, they encountered a fleet of imperial warships and offered their aid in order to help cleanse an imperial world of its chaos taint. The imperial response was to fire upon the ship and to dispatch several boarding parties to capture the vessel. This lead to a massacre inside "The Abyssal Conqueror", killing more than half of the legion before they were able to flee. In their desperation, Viktor ordered 20 marines as well as 100 chapter serfs to take recruits from the nearest planet. The result was horrific, as the marines began taking recruits, they would slowly skin anyone who resisted them, much to the disdain of their chapter master. Although their numbers had been replenished greatly, Viktor Sevatarion ordered all of his men to paint their gauntlets red, so that they did not forget the shame of their savagery, nor did they forget that they must keep it at bay.

Critiques are accepted and very welcome as I'd like to flesh these guys out more.
