Regional Police and Crisis Team Established for Yellowhead Region: Enhancing Public Safety and Crisis Response

Jasper, AB – In a move to strengthen public safety and crisis response in the Yellowhead region, a Regional Police and Crisis Team has been established to serve Jasper, Hinton, Edson, and surrounding areas.
The initiative, a collaboration between the Jasper Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Hinton RCMP, Edson RCMP, and Alberta Health Services (AHS), aims to provide enhanced policing and crisis response services to the community.
According to officials, the team will focus on addressing regional crime issues, improving communication, and enhancing collaboration among law enforcement agencies and AHS to better serve the community.
"This regional team will enable us to respond more effectively to emerging crises and improve our capacity to address complex cases that cross municipal boundaries," said Inspector Jeff Mullen, Officer in Charge, Jasper RCMP.
The Regional Police and Crisis Team will consist of dedicated police officers and crisis responders from each agency, who will work together to:
- Respond to regional crisis incidents, such as search and rescue operations and mental health crises
- Conduct joint investigations and share intelligence to combat cross-border crime
- Provide crisis intervention training to officers and support staff
- Develop and implement joint strategies to address regional crime issues
"This regional team is a critical step forward in our commitment to keeping the public safe and improving our response to crisis situations," said Inspector Mullen.
The Regional Police and Crisis Team will be based in Jasper and will operate 24/7 to respond to emergencies and provide support to communities across the Yellowhead region.
