Senator Espinido Tells Congress: Dela Rosa’s Order to Eliminate Illegal Drugs Includes Killing

Philippines – In a shocking revelation, Senator Panfilo "Ping" Espinido told Congress on Wednesday that his predecessor, Senator Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa, gave him an order to eliminate illegal drugs, which included killing.

Espinido made the bombshell statement during a Senate hearing on the closure of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) Anti-Illegal Drugs Group (AIDG), which was led by Dela Rosa when he was the PNP Chief.

According to Espinido, Dela Rosa ordered him to "finish off" the drug syndicates, which he interpreted to mean killing them. Espinido claimed that he was given this instruction in 2016, just months after Dela Rosa assumed the PNP Chief position.

Dela Rosa, who is currently serving as the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) Director General, denied Espinido’s claims, stating that he never gave such an order and that the PNP’s campaign against illegal drugs was focused on rehabilitation and law enforcement.

The controversy has sparked widespread outrage and calls for a thorough investigation into the matter. Many have questioned the legality and morality of the alleged order, and have demanded answers from Dela Rosa and Espinido.

"Controversial "drug war" cop P/Col. Jovie Espenido told the House Quad Committee that then PNP Chief and incumbent Senator Ronald Dela Rosa ordered him to "eliminate" illegal drugs in Albuera, Leyte, which, Espenido said is understood by most cops as doing the task "by all means" — including killing. Espenido issued the statement during the resumption of the House Quad Comm probe into illegal drugs, illegal POGO, and alleged extra judicial killings. Dela Rosa, meanwhile, denied ordering Espenido to kill drug personalities."
