I was reminded today with the passing of Kīngi Tūheitia that we have very little coverage of the internal politics of Maoridom. Aside from the scandalous acts of his children, we didn't really hear much it all in the main stream media.

It was something I pondered last year, when Nanaia Mahuta (basically Tainui royalty I'd thought) got kicked out by a 20 year old. Was it simply a way for Mahuta to bow out gracefully or was it a message from voters?

I've aware of Te Ao Maori news and Waatea News, but if anyone has any sources to share, would be great.
