In a shocking turn of events, SteamDeckHQ, a renowned community hub for Steam Deck enthusiasts, has been banned from r/SteamDeck, a subreddit dedicated to the upcoming gaming console. The ban has sent shockwaves through the community, with many users taking to social media to express their outrage and concern.
SteamDeckHQ, which has over 100,000 members, was known for its comprehensive guides, reviews, and discussions about the Steam Deck. The community was seen as a go-to resource for users looking for information on the console, and its ban has left many users feeling lost and frustrated.
According to reports, the ban was sudden and unexpected, with no warning or explanation provided by the r/SteamDeck moderators. SteamDeckHQ’s administrators took to social media to announce the ban, stating that they were "still trying to understand the reason behind this decision."
The community is now in an uproar, with many users calling for reconsideration and questioning the reasons behind the ban. Some have speculated that the ban may be related to concerns about the community’s content, while others believe it may be a result of internal conflicts or power struggles within the community.
In a statement, a SteamDeckHQ administrator said, "We are extremely disappointed and frustrated by this sudden ban. We have always strived to provide a positive and informative community for Steam Deck enthusiasts, and we believe that our content has benefited the community as a whole."
The ban has also sparked a heated debate about community moderation and the role of subreddit moderators. Many users are calling for greater transparency and accountability from moderators, who they believe have overstepped their bounds in banning a community that has contributed so much to the Steam Deck discussion.
As the situation continues to unfold, SteamDeckHQ members are rallying around their beloved community, using social media to show their support and solidarity. The hashtag #FreeSteamDeckHQ has already started trending on Twitter, with many users calling for the ban to be reconsidered.
Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story as more information becomes available.

Hey,
Just a writer from SteamDeckHQ here. A member of our community wanted to post about RetroDECK's upcoming update but ran into an error that the domain is not approved and none of our links can be posted. This post was then deleted when the app developer tried to post about it without hyperlinking to SDHQ.
As one of the biggest Steam Deck-specific outlets and creators out there, we found it a bit odd that the site is blocked on a Steam Deck-specific Subreddit. On top of that, we know the subreddit team knows who we are since our boss got our link on the Resources sidebar before the rules were changed to only have official links.
While we may not post here often anymore, since our posts keep getting taken down even if they aren't related to SteamDeckHQ, I would love to know why other users can't post to the subreddit. We report exclusively about the Steam Deck, so it feels like a weird domain to block.
I am curious if anyone else may have an answer, and I would like to see this fixed so we, and others, could post about what we cover so our news can be reached to other Steam Deck fans.
If the moderators team sees this, please let us know what is going on and how we could fix this.
Thank you!

Steamdeckhq is definitely one of my go-to sites for Deck related questions. Surprised your post got taken down.
You cannot even make a post with the word ‘Mod’ in the title. Not to be an ass, but whoever manages this subreddit has made some really weird decisions as of late, making this place less interesting to visit.
This space isn’t controlled by Valve, so I struggle to understand why it would matter if you can post about emulators, mods, and other stuff.
This is unacceptable imo. They are probably one of the most reliable unofficial sources for Steam Deck content. They’ve been accepted as media for games-related events. They’re not just some rando advertising their 100 follower Youtube account every week.

Hmm. I admit, this seems unfair.
Maybe the admins could at the very least tell you exactly why they blocked it.

I struggle to understand what could’ve caused this blacklisting. Like seriously I cannot think of a single issue SDHQ has caused.
The staff here has to come out and explain what their deal is because it’s totally unfair. And from what I can see here it isn’t a matter of self promo it’s a matter of the publication bring banned here.
Just wanted to drop an upvote and say it’s great following you guys on Twitter. Keep up the great work!

Glad you posted this. Never even knew about your site until today.
The lack of effective management has really reduced the usefulness of this sub for anything except “what does a steamdeck look like”. Information and meaningful discussion are removed, while the sub is (allowed to be) flooded with the same basic pictures of someone holding a deck, or a deck on a table. These photos should be regulated into a megathread *at minumum* (there was a rule about it for a very short period of time, but nobody bothered enforcing it).
Love the SteamDeckHQ subreddit though; there is a ton of good discussion and helpful hints/people there.
It’d be totally on brand for me to get banned here just for saying this, actually. It’s only a time until this post is removed as well.
I wonder if someone pulling some strings is secretly trying to launch a SteamDeckHQ competitor…. Cutthroat industry.
This is only sarcasm if the person i’m describing is reading this & feeling defensive.
