Jasper, Alta. – CBC News – As the residents of Jasper, Alberta, begin to return to their homes after the devastating floods, the town is working to provide temporary housing for those who were displaced.
According to officials, the temporary housing units will be set up in various locations around the town, including the Jasper Downtown Plaza and the Jasper Municipal Campground. The units will be equipped with basic amenities such as beds, kitchenettes, and bathrooms.
"We’re doing everything we can to support our residents who were affected by the floods," said Jasper Mayor, Richard Ireland. "We understand that this is a difficult time for them, and we want to make sure they have a safe and comfortable place to stay while their homes are being rebuilt."
The town has also set up a relief center at the Jasper Community Centre, where evacuees can receive food, water, and other essential supplies.
The floods that hit Jasper on June 20th caused widespread damage to homes and businesses, forcing over 1,000 people to evacuate the area. The town is still recovering from the disaster, but officials are working tirelessly to rebuild and restore the community.
