Heart-wrenching Update: Beloved Mother in Hospital for Cardiac Arrest
I’m writing this with a heavy heart as I’m dealing with the most difficult and stressful situation of my life. My loving mother, who has been my guiding light and rock, has been admitted to the hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest.
My mother (65F) had a cardiac arrest at work on Wednesday and I want to know more about what will happen to her. When it happened on Wednesday a secretary at her work immediately began CPR, she was a trained nurse and I am grateful for that. When EMS came with the defibrillator she only needed one shock and nothing else to restart her heart. Since then she has been at the hospital and has been opening her eyes and even moving when trying to remove her ventilator even while sedated.
Is any of this good news? I know that brain damage is likely after such an event like this and I am worried.

While this is not enough info to say much overall, purposeful movement in trying to remove the tube in her mouth is good neurologically.
I will also say that the secretary did a life saving thing… even with CPR the chances of even being alive at this point was slim. I think the fact that she’s with you right now can give a bit of solace.
