"This decision will have a devastating impact on our business. We rely on the Vande Bharat train to transport goods and supplies, and its withdrawal will leave us struggling to make ends meet," said a local businessman.

Somebody bring this private bus lobby down . Maybe that’s why new trains are never introduced in kerala and SWIFT buses were met with accidents in the opening week itself.
Pretty useless if train is extended now. Bus ticket would be booked already and cancelling would lead to a loss.
Rumour is that they wanted to make space for new VB to tamilnadu .. and for supreme leader to flag off today.. hence not extending this.
Ideally there should be enough number of trains that unavailability of tickets should never be an issue. Anyone should be able to decide today to go wherever and be able to go. Any train regularly operating above 90% capacity, should be replaced with two trains.
A vande bharat train costs 100crore to make. Normal sleeper trains cost 30-50crore to make. For reference, we are spending 200,000crore for Ahmedabad-Mumbai Bullet train. 5000crore for renovating Delhi railway station.
By having more trains, it would reduce the imported-petrol/diseal usage, which is our biggest real bill.
