By [Your Name], [Your Title], [Your Publication Date]
A growing concern has been reported in the social media world, as excessive negative posting has become a widespread phenomenon, affecting millions of users worldwide. The issue has sparked widespread debate, with experts weighing in on its potential consequences for mental health, relationships, and online communities.
The Problem:
Excessive negative posting refers to the habitual sharing of negative thoughts, emotions, and experiences on social media platforms. This can include rants, complaints, and criticisms, often aimed at others, institutions, or even oneself. While occasional venting can be a healthy way to process emotions, excessive negative posting can have severe consequences, including:
- Mental Health Concerns: Chronic exposure to negative content can lead to increased stress, anxiety, and depression.
- Toxic Online Environments: Excessive negative posting can create a toxic atmosphere, driving away positive and constructive conversations.
- Relationship Strains: Negative posting can damage relationships, both online and offline, by creating a sense of hostility and resentment.
The Impact:
The effects of excessive negative posting are far-reaching, with consequences extending beyond the individual poster. Online communities, social media platforms, and even society as a whole are affected.
- Social Media Platforms: Excessive negative posting can lead to a decline in user engagement, decreased ad revenue, and a loss of credibility for social media platforms.
- Online Communities: Toxic environments can drive away members, leading to a decline in community participation and a loss of valuable discussions.
- Societal Impact: The normalization of excessive negative posting can contribute to a culture of negativity, affecting relationships, workplaces, and overall well-being.
The Solution:
Experts recommend a balanced approach to social media use, emphasizing the importance of:
- Positive Posting: Share uplifting, inspiring, and informative content to create a positive online environment.
- Self-Care: Practice mindfulness, self-reflection, and stress management to reduce the likelihood of excessive negative posting.
- Community Engagement: Encourage constructive conversations, engage with others, and report toxic content to maintain a healthy online community.
What You Can Do:
- Monitor Your Posting: Be aware of your online behavior and take breaks from social media when needed.
- Report Toxic Content: Flag and report excessive negative posting to maintain a healthy online environment.
- Promote Positivity: Share uplifting content, engage in constructive conversations, and support others in their online endeavors.

Try counting what % of the posts are doomposting on the subreddit. I'll be the first to say that Korea has its problems, but the sheer density of negative posting on this subreddit, often from the same few users who are driven by specific social issues, is grating and I'd argue harmful to Korea.
There's only so many times you can talk about foreigners, the gender war, and the birthrate before it just becomes doomposting and mudflinging fights in the comments.
Something needs to change. This subreddit is actively toxic and depressing to be on. It's scaring off people from visiting Korea and damaging Korea's image past the point of reality, making it seem actively dangerous and hostile when it's not.
I want Korea to change just as badly as you. I'm not advocating for the total absence of negative news. I'm advocating for talking about it in a more thoughtful and less exhausting way. Doomposting and mudflinging fights in the comments is unhelpful and just making the problem worse.

Sadly, sensational and strongly emotional posts are the most “rewarding” (upvotes/comments) on Reddit.
People being reasonable and nuanced mostly do not benefit the Reddit system. This leads to a very binary view: black or white.
If you add the need for validation from other people on top of that, you get the righteous ones judging who is good or bad.

you are not wrong, its been like a week? of at least 10 posts a day about the same topic and i was like “if this keeps going im going to leave the sub” cause its just unbearable to just scroll through this sub and just see those posts and nothing else. the topic needs proper moderation or its going to be the fastest way this sub is going to be an echo chamber.
The nature of this subreddit has changed in recent months, forcing a lot of the more interesting/positive topics into the two “living” subreddits, and leaving this one with mostly headline news, which is by nature going to be negative.
i fully agree. many complaints are fully overblown and downright hateful. and i don’t want to be too woowoo, but fair piece of the complaints are coming from american koreans or koreans who spent majority of their life abroad. like do you want another usa? you can improve korea and also appreciate what makes sk, sk.
I have been in Korea for about six years in total and my experience was quite positive.
It was easier to make more money in the US but other than that, my life in Korea has been better.
