I'm looking at creating a second profile under my existing Facebook account. I figured, if I can't be anonymous on Facebook, then at very least I should be able to get a higher level of privacy.

I saw this Zuckerberg look-alike explaining for 15 minutes how to click a button:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6L1QmNIM8RY&ab_channel=YunaPRO

The only problem is, I don't have such a button: "Create new profile". If I go to "Profile" > "See all profiles", I only have my main profile, with my full name. I don't have any kind of button or option there, like he shows in his video.

I also read this:

Facebook General Policies for Additional Profiles

The following policies apply specifically to your use of additional profiles:

  1. Impersonation: Do not impersonate, or falsely represent that you are authorized to speak on behalf of, another person, brand, business or organization.

  2. Misrepresentation: Do not misrepresent your identity by claiming or implying to be someone you are not.

  3. Usernames: Do not provide your additional profiles with names or usernames that inherently violate our Community Standards or consist solely of generic terms or locations.

  4. Verification: Do not place a verified checkmark in your profile photo or cover photo, or in any other way falsely represent that your profile has been verified by Facebook.

I have not violated point 1, or 2, or 4. I do not understand point 3, but it's irrelevant anyway. Since this option is missing in its entirety, I can't possible have used it to abuse it. Are they saying I can't have things like "newyorkcity" or "bananas" as my username? It seems stupid. What should I call myself then? Maybe "johnjohnson2" on the second profile and "johnjohnson" on the main profile? Again, it seems stupid. They only allow this to be able to track you. It's better when you can be totally anonymous, with a completely separate account.

This is from their blog post about this new option.

Our longstanding policy on Account Integrity and Authentic Identity states that your main Facebook profile must be in the name you go by in everyday life — and this is not changing. You can choose any name for your additional profiles, but not for your main profile. We remain committed to preventing impersonation and identity misrepresentation, so additional profiles cannot impersonate others or be used to misrepresent your identity (including your age or location).

This is my only Facebook account in current existence. I registered it in 2010, and according to Facebook itself, there are no restrictions imposed on it.

Account Status
Your account looks good! Thanks for sticking to the rules and making Facebook a better place.

What’s in your account
Your main profile is responsible for all the things you manage.

So then why is this option missing? My guess is that they simply have not released this option yet to all users.

This is the last of it. I'm done with this.
