My 24 Integra's trunk release button broke partially the other day. The plastic which retains the screw in the second picture has fractured, allowing the right half of the button to float around in the housing. As you can see in the first pic, the lock button is recessed well below the surface of the housing when I press on it. It's probably a matter of time before the other plastic standoff fractures from stress.
I'll be contacting the dealer tomorrow for a replacement.
Bad news, this appears to be a bad design. Especially with these modern electronic trunk latches where you have like half a second before the latch releases, you can expect some folks to put moderate force through the button. The plastic also looks brittle but I don't know anything about plastics.
Good news, if this continues to be a problem past warranty, it looks like it could be DIY-ed.
