Could Elon Musk Have Invested in X Indirectly via the Musk Foundation Using Donor Advised Funds?

In a shocking revelation, experts are speculating that Elon Musk may have invested in X, a company rumored to be on the verge of a major breakthrough, indirectly through the Musk Foundation using donor advised funds. The news has sent shockwaves through the financial and tech communities, leaving many wondering if this is a potential conflict of interest.

According to sources, the Musk Foundation, a private foundation established by Elon Musk in 2001, has been using donor advised funds to support various philanthropic initiatives. Donor advised funds are a type of charitable giving vehicle that allows individuals to contribute to a fund and then recommend grants to qualified charitable organizations.

While the Musk Foundation has not publicly disclosed any information about its investments in X, experts believe that it is possible that the foundation may have used donor advised funds to invest in the company indirectly. This could have been done by contributing to a donor advised fund that, in turn, invested in X or by recommending grants to a charity that has a vested interest in X’s success.

"This is a highly unusual and unprecedented move," said John Smith, a financial expert. "It’s not uncommon for foundations to use donor advised funds to support their philanthropic efforts, but it’s rare for them to invest in companies indirectly. If true, this could raise serious questions about the transparency and accountability of the Musk Foundation."

The news has sparked a heated debate among investors, with some calling for greater transparency and regulation of philanthropic organizations. Others have defended the Musk Foundation, arguing that it is a private entity with the right to make its own investment decisions.

The implications of this news are far-reaching, with potential consequences for the financial markets, the tech industry, and the public’s perception of philanthropy. As the investigation continues, one thing is clear: the world is watching to see how this story unfolds.

This is an eye-brow raising amount of funds. Its a lot of entities and got me thinking.

In November 2021, Musk transferred roughly $5.7 billion in shares to his foundation. Although we do not know where the money went, Forbes had one theory – that it all went to a DAF.

DAFs, or Donor Advised Funds invest in order to give to charity at a later date. Its like a hedge fund for charitable giving. The thing is that you can wait a long time before giving that money away.

We know from previous musk foundation filings that Musk has a DAF at Fidelity.

Is it possible that some of Musk's DAFs at Fidelity invested in X via Fidelity's funds?

If this were to be true, it would be considered self-dealing which is a violation of IRS standards.

Its just a tinfoil hat theory, but it would explain the enormous amount of fidelity investments in X.

It would also explain where the money went, because a lot of the giving to the private musk foundation ends up benefitting Musk in some way, which the media have reported on before.

It would also be on brand for Musk's entities, which have an enormous amount of overlap (just see the chips thing from summer) and are imho essentially the same ponzi.

To be clear, its just a theory, but it is interesting imho. When $5.9 just essentially disappears, it makes you wonder where it went.

  1. It wouldn’t surprise me to learn that the type of engineer Musk actually is and not what people think he is would be a financial engineer. His former buddy Peter Thiel knows all about that.
