Thanks in advance for reading, we are located in England, and I have posted about this case previously on another account but things have updated and I'd love any advice as we're so so so confused.

2.5 years ago, my GF and I were arrested on suspicion of Perverting the course of justice, had devices taken to the value of 7k. Essentially, 3.5 years ago my GF had reported harassment messages that went on across years. Culprit unable to be traced due to the software they use, same outcome as last time she reported it. Reason for our arrest and custody interview = the website used to send the harassment was accessed from our house on one of the days GF received harassment (which is a very weird reason imo, considering it's a social platform, but whatever).

We don't worry too much since obviously we aren't guilty, it would be ridiculous for us to report something to the police that we were responsible for doing — esp considering we didn't even name any suspects andbwe have no clue who they are, the threats were of a political nature. So they won't find anything on our devices, plus solicitor said it's quite a reach to charge something like this as PTCOJ. We just let them do the downloading, assuming they'll contact us when clear. 2.5 years pass, zero contact from OIC except a response once last year and once in Jan 2024 when we asked if it's live, and they said yes. We moved last year, and informed OIC in writing.

Recently, we received news that indicates almost certain the case is NFA: my GF is a foreign national (we are NOT asking for any imm. advice, just stating circumstancee), and filed a visa extension in Feb — where she of course declared the live investigation. Her app was held/paused instead of being decided at the time, and she was told it's paused pending results of investigation, as standard re: cases with pending charges, some people wait for years we have seen. But 2 months ago, she receives an email that the visa has been granted.

Both our immigration and criminal solicitors say this is highly indicative of NFA: it is very strict in Home Office policy to pause an application when there are ANY pending charges or live investigations — as in, people who get those £100 railway penalty fares have applications paused till its cleared, say nothing of PTCOJ where the max sentence is life. Considering she declared the arrest explicitly to the point of giving OIC details, specifically noted it in her cover letter too as she doesn't want to be seen as hiding any criminality, and since the max sentence is so high, her application being processed let alone granted is very much a sign of NFA. We have put in for ACRO SAR last week.

After the visa approval, we attempted to contact the OIC twice, the force twice and even called the station both us and the solicitors. Zero response except acknowledgement. We are just at a loss. Is this normal to not be contacted even to respond? Again, the devices cost 7k and we really don't understand why we haven't been updated. Is it because it was a mistake on the force's end and they forgot to update us, or whether it's because us being cleared of sending these messages means they have cocked up re: investigating the actual harassment and just quietly NFAed it without telling us? Again, we've received responses till Jan, but radio silence after.

Would appreciate any help on how to proceed when we're being stonewalled to this extent. Also if/when the SAR comes back as NFA, how do we go about getting devices back from a force that isn't responding to us at all? Thank you!
