Chicago Man Charged in Fatal Shooting of 4 Sleeping on Train near Forest Park: Police
A 26-year-old Chicago man has been charged with murder and aggravated battery in connection with the fatal shooting of four people who were sleeping on a train near Forest Park on Tuesday morning, authorities said.
According to police, the shooting occurred around 2:30 a.m. on a Metra train traveling from Chicago to the western suburbs. The victims, all in their 20s and 30s, were sleeping on the train when the suspect, identified as Deshawn Johnson, boarded the train and began shooting.
The victims were transported to nearby hospitals, where three of them were pronounced dead. The fourth victim was listed in critical condition.
Johnson was taken into custody without incident and is being held at the Cook County Jail pending a bond hearing.
"This senseless and tragic act of violence will not be tolerated in our city," said Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown. "We will do everything in our power to ensure that the perpetrator is held accountable for his actions."
