I'm planning to visit Taiwan in a couple of months, and I want to spend some time in nature with river tracing groups. I'm open to general hiking, as well, but river tracing piques my interest as I have family from Hawaii and would hike to waterfalls and through rivers… though I'd still call myself a beginner in most hiking activities.
I don't know much about places where river tracing happens, I've heard Hualien is a very popular spot but the earthquakes earlier in the year closed off places like Taroko Gorge. I'm not sure what the current news about this is, so if you guys have info or resources I can check I'd appreciate it! I've also read some places like Taitung have river tracing groups.
Where would you recommend (in general) and do you know any well-reviewed groups I should look into?
