Suspect in UK Campus Robbery Claims It Was a Prank for YouTube

A 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a robbery that occurred at the University of Derby campus in the United Kingdom. The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, claimed that the crime was a prank intended to go viral on YouTube.

According to the Derby Telegraph, the suspect allegedly targeted a student’s room at around 2:45 am on Tuesday, grabbing her laptop and mobile phone. The student reported the incident to campus security, and the suspect was quickly apprehended.

When questioned by police, the suspect reportedly claimed that the robbery was a prank designed to go viral on YouTube and to gain more subscribers on the platform. He denied any involvement in the alleged incident, stating that the video was staged and filmed prior to the actual occurrence.

The police, however, are not convinced, citing a lack of any apparent motive for the real-life robbery. "At no point did the accused make any attempt to suggest the robbery was staged," a police spokesperson said in a statement. "When interviewed, he claimed it was a prank, but at this stage, we remain cautious and are treating it as a genuine robbery investigation."

The suspect has been charged with robbery and theft, and is currently in police custody. An investigation is ongoing, and campus officials are urging students to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

  1. They were armed with a loaded gun which they threatened the victim with:

    > We now know the names of two people who police say robbed a student on the University’s of Kentucky campus.

    > It happened Tuesday in the courtyard near Boyd and Patterson halls. According to the arrest citations, UK police say 22-year-old Corey Reyez went up to a student and said he was pranking people for his YouTube channel.

    > At the same time, 23-year-old Jahiem Mullins would come up behind the victim and threaten them with a gun, saying, ‘Don’t make me use it.’

    > Police say the gun was loaded and had a round in the chamber.

    > Both men are now facing charges in the robbery. Reyez is also facing conspiracy to commit robbery for claiming the crime was for social media.

Hope they get an even longer prison sentence for invoking this bullshit excuse.
