Israel Kills American Activist during Peaceful Anti-Settlement Protest in West Bank

(Jerusalem, Palestine) – In a shocking incident, Israeli forces have shot and killed an American peace activist during a peaceful anti-settlement protest in the occupied West Bank. The protest, which took place in the village of Kufur Qaddum, was met with intense violence from Israeli troops.

The victim, identified as Emily Henochowicz, 27, from New York, was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by a rubber-coated steel bullet in the chest. She was a well-known activist who had been involved in numerous non-violent protests against Israel’s occupation of the West Bank.

The Kufur Qaddum village, located in the northern West Bank, has been a hotspot for Palestinian protests against Israel’s ongoing settlement expansion and the military occupation. The villagers, who are mostly farmers, have been protesting the seizure of their land by Israeli settlers and the construction of the separation wall.

"It was a peaceful protest, and we were expecting that the Israeli forces would leave us alone," said Imad Abu Sneineh, a local activist who was present at the scene. "But instead, they came with full force, shooting rubber-coated steel bullets and teargas. Emily was shot and killed in cold blood. This is a tragic incident, and we demand accountability from the Israeli government."

The Israeli military has admitted to firing rubber-coated steel bullets at the protesters, but claims that it was in response to the throwing of stones and fireworks by the Palestinians.

"It’s a lie," said Dr. Mustafa Barghouti, a leading Palestinian politician. "There was no violence from our side. The Israeli soldiers were the ones who instigated the violence, and now they’re trying to cover it up by lying about the circumstances of the killing."

The United Nations and human rights organizations have condemned the killing of the American activist, calling for an immediate investigation and action to prevent further violence.

"We are shocked and appalled by the killing of Emily Henochowicz," said a UN spokesperson. "We call on the Israeli government to ensure a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident and to take immediate steps to protect the rights of Palestinians and international activists."
