Seeing how the new singer is linked to Scientology, an abusive cult that has a long history of doing absolutely terrible shit, ruined it for me. Chester was such a kind person with good intentions and the scientology news left a bad taste. Anybody else having different views on the situation?

I've been a fan for a very long time and I've supported them through every creative decision. I don't know if this is one I can follow

  1. I Was hating at first because no one could ever replace Chester.. She really isn’t that good.. respect to all the lovely people embracing her.. that is just who LP fans are but I will Never support that cult or anyone from it.

  2. I completely understand where you’re coming from. I think as LP fans all we can do is wait to see if she talks about it publicly and all. We just need time to adjust and get to know her I think. Could’ve been a mistake she regrets, she could have cut ties by now, who knows.
Chester was loved because he showed he was gentle and kind but also so strong for what everything he went through. He was very relatable to millions of people who have suffered in life. That’s the part Emily might be a miss, we need to know more of her, who she is and if she can be as vulnerable on stage as Chester appeared to be. We just need time to know her

  3. The whole scientology thing is pretty gross. I’m with ya there.

But what really gets me is how Armstrong’s a rape apologist. How tf can you defend Danny Masterson? That’s pretty unforgivable if you ask me. And to make matters even worse, when you put it all into perspective… she’s replacing someone who was molested between the ages of 7—13. It really speaks volume on the rest of the band for even giving her the part.

    Count me out.

  4. I don’t know anything about Scientology, is it just an American thing? The Catholic church in my country has a history of mistreatment too yet if you complained about someone being Catholic that is considered bigotry. Is it something about her having conservative views? That isn’t a good enough reason to want her fired.

  5. I still don’t have a opinion formed about it…

Some are pointing out that she was born in the cult, and if it’s the case, I wouldn’t blame her. My wife (who is currently an atheist) was born in a super religious family and struggled with guilty and abusive relationships for decades, her father was a pastor for most of her life and this really affected her, since the whole church always expected her to be literally perfect. I really understand how this kind of thing can mould a person’s point of view and how hard it is to break from it.

About the Danny Masterson’s thing, some people are saying that she supported her during the trials, not after he was convicted. Again, I wouldn’t blame her to support a friend UNLESS we have some kind of proof that she indeed knew it was true, in this case there’s no way to defend her.

Again, my opinion isn’t formed yet, I need to research a little on my own before I jump into any conclusions. But yeah, all of this coming up is really a bummer, I was really into her but now it is kinda ruining it for me too.
