I have filed a case against my current employer and my lawyer has suggested that he shops around the case to local news outlets in order to put pressure on my employer. My lawyer says I have great case that we can definitely win just based on the years of proof (emails, files, lack of pay or mobility and witnesses I have. He has suggested that it maybe better to use my name on articles written about the case so that it makes the story more compelling and usually stories with a name gain more traction. The news article will definitely push for the outcome I hope especially since their has been recent press about discrimination in the past few years. I am just worried that it may impact my future employment/ career if my name is now public with the case especially as I am trying to leave this place. But then again I have thought that would I want to work at a place that sees a discrimination lawsuit as a reason as to not to hire an employee. Has anyone filed and went public with their name in the news? I need help thinking through the pros and the cons. Can folks please help or share their experience?
TLDR: Should I include my name in the news regarding my lawsuit?

I am not a lawyer nor have law experience – I say trust your gut don’t do it. Any employer who sees a lawsuit on a name doesn’t get a happy feeling “yay I want to hire them in the future” they don’t want their asses sued either
