In a shocking turn of events, Sonos, the renowned audio equipment manufacturer, has reported disappointing sales figures for its latest product, the Sonos Ace smart speaker, in the English market. Despite its sleek design and impressive features, the device seems to be struggling to gain traction among consumers.

According to industry insiders, the Sonos Ace has failed to meet sales expectations in England, with many retailers reporting sluggish demand. This unexpected development has left many wondering what went wrong with the product’s marketing strategy.

"We were expecting a lot more from the Sonos Ace, but unfortunately, it hasn’t lived up to our expectations," said a spokesperson for a major electronics retailer. "The device is great, but it seems like it’s not resonating with consumers as much as we thought it would."

The Sonos Ace was launched earlier this year with much fanfare, boasting advanced features such as multi-room audio capabilities, voice control, and a sleek, compact design. However, it appears that these features may not be enough to convince consumers to make the purchase.

Industry analysts point to several factors that may have contributed to the Sonos Ace’s poor sales performance. "The market is becoming increasingly saturated with smart speakers, and consumers are becoming more discerning about which products they choose to buy," said an analyst with a leading market research firm. "Sonos may have missed the mark with the Ace, and it’s going to take some serious effort to get the product back on track."

In response to the disappointing sales figures, Sonos has announced plans to revamp its marketing strategy and offer special promotions to drive sales. However, it remains to be seen whether these efforts will be enough to turn things around for the struggling smart speaker.

From Mark Gurman.

"The other bad news for Sonos is that its new Ace headphones are underperforming. The company originally sought to build about 900,000 to 1 million units per year (2,500 headphones per day). That number is now down to roughly 250 units a day, which would be about 90,000 to 100,000 units annually"

  1. Not surprising. I mean, it’s an expensive product in a saturated market, and even Sonos fans were kind of underwhelmed when they learned the Ace wasn’t a “full” Sonos client. Still would like to get a pair but definitely not at full MSRP…

  2. The decision to launch a new app too soon to get the Ace to market quickly was clearly a disaster. Now they’re losing part of the loyal customer base and probably stuck with a few warehouses full of expensive inventory.

  3. Yeesh. Sonos sold somewhere in the ballpark of 6 million units in 2023. To forecast a million headphones at $449, when you’re late to market, seems delusional. Solid work by the Sonos C-Suite, as is standard these days.
