US Immigration Department Announces New H1B Restrictions for MBA Graduates in English
Washington D.C., [Current Date] – In a move that is expected to have far-reaching implications for international students and professionals, the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has announced new restrictions on H1B visas for Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) graduates who have studied in English.
The new rules, which take effect immediately, require MBA graduates who have studied in English to demonstrate a higher level of English proficiency in order to be eligible for H1B visas. The restrictions are aimed at ensuring that foreign workers do not displace American workers and to protect the interests of US citizens.
Under the new rules, MBA graduates who have studied in English will be required to take an English language proficiency test, such as the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), and score at least 100 on the TOEFL or 7.0 on the IELTS. This is significantly higher than the current minimum requirement of 80 on the TOEFL or 6.5 on the IELTS.
The new restrictions are expected to affect thousands of international students who graduate from MBA programs in the US each year. Many of these students are from countries where English is not the primary language, such as India, China, and South Korea.
The move has been welcomed by some American workers who feel that foreign workers are taking jobs that should be going to US citizens. However, many international students and professionals have expressed concerns that the new restrictions will make it more difficult for them to find work in the US and may even lead to them being forced to leave the country.
"We are extremely disappointed by this decision," said a spokesperson for the National Association of International Students. "The new restrictions will make it much harder for international students to find work in the US and will have a devastating impact on our economy and society."
The US Immigration Department has said that the new restrictions are necessary to ensure that foreign workers do not displace American workers and to protect the interests of US citizens. However, many experts believe that the restrictions are overly broad and may have unintended consequences.
"The new restrictions may have the opposite effect of what the government intended," said a leading immigration expert. "They may actually lead to more foreign workers being forced to leave the country, which could have negative consequences for the US economy and society."
The new restrictions are expected to take effect immediately and will apply to all MBA graduates who apply for H1B visas in the future.
The article says
"Second, the proposed rule also copied language from the Trump administration to assert that business administration is a “general degree” and insufficient to qualify for a specialty occupation “without further specialization.” That could prevent foreign nationals with a master’s in business from gaining H-1B status and reduce the number of international students enrolling in MBA programs at U.S. universities"
So, Now I am an international student who is going to pursue STEM MBA (Finance) in fall 2025 with some loans. Right now i am really confused after hearing this news. What should i do? If i dont qualify for H1B then its going to be huge loss for me.Please somebody enlighten me with this new rule.
