PCT has broken above the 100d on the weekly twice now. That's something I watch for with stocks on the 50d on the 1hr chart. The first break above is rarely successful. Especially with a heavy short stock. The more times it breaks above, the more likely it is successful in a breakout. That's the technical side.
On the fundamental side. I'm convinced that shorts are offsides. They may still be right, eventually. It could be too expensive to produce Polyethylene Plastic (sp?) from recycled products. But, I think they've gotten way over their skis.
Shorts are predicting an absolute zero. PCT is generating product. Not at spec, not at the rates they need. But, they're going to start generating revenue, by mixing near virgin product with pure PP. That, in and of itself, is a game changer. They go from zero revenue to $7-9M in revenue a quarter*.
If you look back at their previous news reports, they've provided product to fiber companies to produce carpet. One company gave them a rug made of the product that they provided. The most recent news release mentioned both revenue in Q3 but also that future revenue is likely to come from fiber companies.
I've re-read the short reports from both Hindenburg and Bleecker Street. Bleecker was dependent on municipal bond default. That's gone now. But, they're still short. The Hindenburg report was from '21 and was convinced that the plant itself wouldn't work. It does. They had questions about the SPAC and the management team. The prior team is gone.
Not hiding this. There are other issues about sourcing recycled PP at decent rates in order to keep the plant running at full capacity. There are questions about their yields and the possible pricing of their product.
But, when thinking about expectations. Shorts were expecting the plant to not work. They were expecting a big 'o zero in revenue. They were expecting them to run out of cash before PCT could find a revenue source. With the recent funding, they won't run out of cash anytime soon. End of '25 before another raise, if needed.
I don't think shorts have adjusted their thesis at all. It's just been a slow migration to, 'well, eventually, this won't be financially viable'.
I'm sure I'll get fucked, because I've married this one. But, on the off chance that I managed to see a diamond in the rough, I'm sharing it.
