Three Americans Accused of Trying to Overthrow Congo President Sentenced to Death

A Congo court has sentenced three American nationals to death for allegedly plotting to overthrow President Félix Tshisekedi. The dramatic verdict was announced on Monday, February 27, sparking outrage and concern among international rights groups and governments.

"It’s unacceptable that the United States is still struggling to articulate a clear stance on this issue," said Fatoumata Natacha Ngosso, a prominent Congolese human rights advocate. "The lives of these Americans are at stake, and it’s the duty of the US government to defend their rights and fight against the arbitrary use of capital punishment."
