Washington D.C. – In a shocking revelation, multiple sources have confirmed that Amtrak conductors and engineers are experiencing extreme exhaustion, threatening the safety of passengers and the integrity of the nation’s rail network.
Exhausted Conductors
According to reports, Amtrak employees are working long hours with little to no rest, leading to a significant decrease in alertness and an increased risk of accidents. Conductors and engineers have shared their concerns with internal management, citing the physically demanding nature of their job and the lack of sufficient resources to manage the growing workload.
Safety Concerns
The exhaustion epidemic has raised serious concerns about the safety of Amtrak’s operations. With fewer experienced employees on the roster, there is a greater risk of human error, which can have devastating consequences. Passengers are right to worry about the possibility of accidents, derailments, and other catastrophic events.
Industry Crisis
The situation is not limited to Amtrak alone; other railroad companies are experiencing similar issues. The shortage of skilled workers, inadequate training, and the rising workload are all contributing factors to the crisis. Industry insiders are calling for immediate action to address the issues before a major disaster strikes.
Amtrak Response
In response to the crisis, Amtrak officials have announced plans to introduce new training programs and schedule adjustments to alleviate the pressure on employees. However, critics argue that these measures are too little, too late, and that a more comprehensive approach is necessary to address the root causes of the problem.
Call to Action
Passengers, employees, and concerned citizens are urged to contact their local representatives, Amtrak management, and industry leaders to demand a solution to this crisis. The public has a right to know that their lives are being protected by vigilant and well-rested crew members.

Currently on a cross country train for the second time this month to avoid getting on an airplane and honestly I am exhausted. I would still highly recommend a long distance train trip to anyone, it’s a great experience. But I know I don’t want to spend another 50hrs taking the train back to California. I’ve been thinking of flying back on a 777. United has two flights per day on larger planes and have always felt more safe to me, and an older 777 doesn’t feel as risky as a new Max or 787 Dreamliner.
Oh! And for the record, I actually flew on a 787 the day the news broke about the Boeing whistleblower earlier this year. I saw the news early that morning, cancelled my first Uber but then called another and got a sweet pep talk from the driver. I ended up throwing up on the landing but I do have a sensitive stomach. This was months ago and I’ve since cancelled and even walked off numerous flights. My last flight was Cabo-SFO and it took me a week after cancelling and extending my trip I finally took the flight and it was smooth as butter, as most flights up the California coast have been in my experience.
Anyway… I’m thinking of flying again in 4-5 days and this is my first time posting in the group. Would love some encouragement!
Maybe this will help someone else but the slow exhaustion of long distance train travel really puts into perspective what an amazing privilege air travel is.
