Nintendo Switch Gets a Dose of Wild Adventure with Pokémon Ranger Remake Rumors!

The Pokémon franchise has been dominating the gaming world for decades, and fans are always eager to see what’s next. With the massive success of the Pokémon Sword and Shield games, as well as the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Arceus, it’s no surprise that rumors are circulating about a potential Pokémon Ranger remake for the Nintendo Switch.

For those who might not be familiar, Pokémon Ranger was a spin-off series that debuted on the Nintendo DS in 2006. The game revolved around the concept of "ranger" – a Pokémon conservationist tasked with capturing and protecting wild Pokémon. The series featured a unique art style and innovative gameplay mechanics, setting it apart from the mainline Pokémon games.

What Would a Pokémon Ranger Remake Look Like on the Nintendo Switch?

If the rumors are true, a Pokémon Ranger remake on the Nintendo Switch could be a game-changer. Here are some features and improvements that fans might expect:

  1. Enhanced Graphics: With the Switch’s powerful hardware, a Pokémon Ranger remake could boast stunning visuals, bringing the world of the rangers to life in a way that was impossible on the DS.
  2. New Gameplay Mechanics: Building upon the foundation of the original, a remake could introduce new abilities, moves, and Pokémon capture methods to keep the gameplay fresh and exciting.
  3. Improved Storyline: The original Pokémon Ranger games had a unique storyline, but a remake could offer a more complex and engaging narrative, perhaps exploring the consequences of the events in the original games.
  4. Multiplayer Options: With the Switch’s online capabilities, a Pokémon Ranger remake could include multiplayer features, allowing players to team up with friends to tackle missions and battle each other.
  5. Post-Game Content: To keep players engaged for hours on end, a remake could include post-game content, such as a new storyline, additional challenges, or even a Battle Mode.

The third Pokemon ranger game has always been my favorite Pokemon game. I've had an eye open for a remake FOR SO LONG. And still no news. Had me wondering, what WOULD a remake look like?

Of course, only big issue: No touch screen.

I've always thought a remake on the Switch would make use of the motion sensors on the JoyCons, like you'd make circles with them or something like that

but imagine THAT with Mega evolutions and meeting pokemon trainers from the games. a remake would be absolute fire. Thoughts?

  1. The Switch has a touch screen, but it only being in handheld mode is no doubt a huge part of why we’ll never see another entry. Only way we’re likely to get a new game is via a mobile game, which is also pretty unlikely.

I’d hope they wouldn’t include Mega Evolution or main series cameos. The series can do better than rely on fanservice and spectacle like that. They can finally get the lore and worldbuilding of the Ranger regions straight, for instance.

If another were to come out, it’d probably be another standard Ranger game but with a few improvements that had no reason not being in the original three games, similar to how SoA and GS fixed some things that had no reason not to be in prior games. I could also see them attempting to make it open world / zone but messing up, though considering it’s Ranger, I doubt it’d get that much attention sadly.
