Admittedly in the past I haven’t really cared too much about council elections. My area (Canterbury-Bankstown) is an impenetrable Labour stronghold and I never bothered to research the candidates.
This year I tried to be a conscientious voter, just to see what’s happening and double check I’m not voting for any baby-eating shitkickers and I could barely find ANYTHING online about the candidates I looked up. At most, I found some sparsely maintained Instagram accounts or an article here and there but one guy didn’t even have a page on the already shit council website and he was running for Greens.
Is this just me being shit at googling? Where can I find local news? And if there is, is any of it impartial, decent news or is it all sneakily biased reporting like the stuff they spew on the radio? I’d like to know what’s going on in my community now that I’m old enough to care. I remember there used to be weekly newspapers delivered to your door but I never read them (granted I was like 12 lol)

I couldnt find jackshit on my candidates in sutho either
Couldn’t find anything either, was shocked it was so hard to find candidate information, even the How to Vote cards being handed out for my ward had no personal information on them.
Keeping a squeeky clean online presence is probably a really good idea for a politician.
